Island Life Note Vieques is a beautiful, natural island where animals also seem to believe they are on vacation. You may see or hear free-roaming chickens, roosters, horses, cats, and occasionally dogs around the island. This is part of the local Vieques experience and not unique to this property. Important update: Some older reviews mention a rooster farm next door. That situation was resolved on April 30, 2026, when the birds were removed. In other words, the rooster choir next door has officially retired. 🐓 Please note that while the rooster farm is gone, we cannot guarantee a completely silent island environment. Vieques has nature sounds, local traffic, coquíes, breezes, and the occasional animal passing by. Guests who are very sensitive to sound may still use the earplugs or the white noise machines, as they would for most rural or island stays. About hot water Vieques homes can sometimes have water pressure or temperature variations, especially on remote parts of the island. If anything does not seem right during your stay, please message us right away so our team can assist. About supplies We provide essentials to get your stay started. Due to past plumbing issues, we do not provide paper towels. Microfiber towels are available instead. Important plumbing note Please do not flush anything other than biological waste. No paper, wipes, hygiene items, feminine products, diapers, or paper towels. This helps us protect the plumbing septic system and avoid damage. Travel insurance Travel plans can change unexpectedly. To protect your trip and avoid losing your payment if you need to cancel outside the free cancellation period, we recommend purchasing travel insurance. We are happy to assist with documentation from our end if needed.
